Joshua Wong, Nathan Law and Alex Chow, leaders of the 2014 Umbrella Movement rallies, were sentenced to six to eight months in jail Thursday for their role in a protest that sparked the months-long demonstrations calling for democratic reforms. People took on the scorching summer heat to stream from the district of Wan Chai to the Court of Final Appeal in the heart of Hong Kong Island, protesting the jail terms.

Investigators uncovered ingredients of the explosive at a house in the town of Alcanar, around 200 kilometres (120 miles) south of Barcelona, believed to be the terror cell's bomb-making factory.

The potential battery-powered revamp of the van, known as the Bulli in Germany, was first announced at the Detroit auto show in January. "After the presentations at the global motor shows in Detroit and Geneva, we received a large number of letters and emails from customers who said, 'please build this car'," Volkswagen brand chief Herbert Diess said in a statement.

Mugabe, who had been sought by police for allegedly attacking the 20-year-old model at a Johannesburg hotel, was granted diplomatic immunity in the case by South Africa's foreign minister on Saturday. "The minister has made the determination that the conferring of diplomatic immunity is warranted in this particular instance," the ministry said Sunday, citing a need "to maintain good inter-governmental relations" in the region.
